What You Will Learn at Our Estate Planning Seminar

  • Wills vs. trusts. What each one does, what each costs, and which fits your family. See our will vs. trust guide.
  • How to avoid probate. How a funded living trust, transfer on death deed or lady bird deed can pass your home and accounts without a court case, and what probate in Texas involves if you don’t plan.
  • Protecting an inheritance. How to keep what you leave your children safe from divorce, creditors and poor decisions.
  • Planning for incapacity. Powers of attorney, medical directives and long-term care, so the right people can act for you without a guardianship.
  • Blended families and common law marriage. Who inherits under Texas law, and how to make sure your plan says what you mean.
  • The 2026 estate tax. What the federal exemption means for your family, and when tax planning matters.
  • How the process works. The steps to putting an estate plan in place, from the first meeting to signing and funding your trust.

Who Should Attend

Our seminars are designed for married couples, singles, parents, retirees and families, and for anyone who wants a thoughtful plan to protect the people they love and the assets they have worked a lifetime to build. If you already have an old will or trust, a seminar is an easy way to find out whether it still works.

What to Expect

  • A small group. Seating is limited so the seminar stays personal and question-friendly.
  • Taught by an attorney. An estate planning attorney from our firm teaches every seminar and answers questions live.
  • A meal at many events. Many seminars are held at local restaurants as lunch or dinner events.
  • Help afterward if you want it. If you would like help with your own plan, you can schedule a consultation with one of our attorneys.

Estate Planning Seminar FAQs

Are the seminars really free?

Yes. There is no cost to attend, and many of our seminars are held at local restaurants with a meal included. Each event listing says whether it is a lunch or dinner event.

Can I bring my spouse or a family member?

Yes, and we encourage it. Estate planning decisions usually involve both spouses, and adult children often come with their parents. Just include your guest when you register so we can save a seat.

Will I get advice about my own situation?

The seminar covers how Texas estate planning and probate work, and the attorney answers questions from the group. If you want advice about your own family and property, you can schedule a consultation with one of our attorneys afterward.

Should I bring anything?

Bring your questions. If you already have a will, trust or other estate planning documents, you are welcome to bring them.

Where are the seminars held?

At restaurants and event spaces around the Austin area, including Bee Cave, North Austin and Kyle. Check the upcoming dates above for the next location near you.
